WHO WE ARE

The Savage Papakāinga Land Trust is the governance entity for land block Lot 39A Sec. 2A Parish of Matata.
Our role is as a caretaker of the taonga handed down to us by our tipuna, for the benefit of whānau and all future generations.

HISTORY

On 18 March 2018, the trust order was sealed by the Māori Land Court which gave the new trustees the right to govern. The first official trustee meeting was held on 15 April 2018.

As of June 2024, Lot 39A Sec. 2A Parish of Matata currently has a total of 149 landowners recorded who are either as an individual owner or a whānau trust.

These landowners are represented by the whenua’s governing entity – Savage Papakāinga Land Trust. The Trust Board currently consists of six trustees as follows:

  • Marty Niao

  • Alan Niao

  • Anthony Savage

  • William Doney

The Board would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Kererua Savage, who sat on the Board from 2017 - 2024.
